In 2003, WindRose Golf Club landed a top name local PGA Golf Professional as their Director of Instruction. Jim Phenicie, who headed the Golf Advantage School at Kingwood Country Club for eleven years, was chosen from a nationwide group of candidates. Phenicie has developed a solid teaching reputation over the years and is a 3 time selection for the Southern Texas PGA's Teacher of the Year. He has also been chosen by Golf Digest as one of the "Best Teachers in Texas" and identified by GOLF Magazine as one of the "Best Instructors in the Central US". His most recent accolade is a nomination to GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Teachers in America.
Phenicie directs WindRose's highly popular Player Development Program which has become the envy of other clubs in Houston. Along with tutoring individual students Jim also works with players to ensure that they have the right equipment for their game. Jim's students know they are in good hands when it comes to having their equipment analyzed as he is a member of the Titleist Prominent Fitter Faculty. This team of highly qualified custom fitting specialist spends several days per year training other PGA Professionals the art of custom fitting. Titleist has also outfitted Jim with a state of the art VectorPro Launch Monitor for use in his custom fitting sessions as well as being selected as one of only 10 ADVANCED FITTING WORKS locations in the US.
Phenicie has served as a featured columnist for several monthly golf publications, as well as a frequent guest speaker on area radio and television programs. He has also been selected to the Titleist Leadership Advisory Staff and is identified as a Top Instructor in the Houston area in both the BMW and Shell Golf Guides. His skills at the game of golf led him to several victories as an All-American college golfer and the professional circuits.
The practice facilities at WindRose are second to none featuring a 10,000 square foot putting green, a 40 station tee line and a private teaching area that allows shots up to 150 yards to a real target. The club recently finished construction of the Golf Learning Center office located in the clubhouse where Jim uses the latest in state of the art video analysis equipment. |
